Jeffrey Williams

Jeffrey Williams, Professor of Trombone, takes on new duties as
Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies. Jeff has been teaching
at the School of Music since 1980. The undergraduate office suite
is now located in SOM 140, accessed from the main hall near the
student lounge.
Williams received the B.Mus. degree from North Texas State University
in 1965, the M.S. degree from the University of Illinois in 1966,
and the D.M.A. degree from North Texas State University in 1974.
He studied trombone with Leon Brown, Robert Gray, and Glenn Smith.
Williams was a member of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, the
Fort Worth Symphony and Opera Orchestras, and the American Wind
Symphony. He has been principal trombonist of the Eugene Symphony
since 1980, and a member of the Oregon Bach Festival Orchestra
since 1981.
Williams has taught at Miami University, Southwest Texas State
University, and in the public schools of Garland and Richardson,
Texas. He is a member of the International Trombone Association,
the Music Educators National Conference, the National Association
of College Wind and Percussion Instructors, and the Oregon Music
Educators Association.
Williams teaches trombone performance and brass pedagogy, directs
the University Brass Choir and Trombone Ensemble, and performs
with the Oregon Brass Quintet.
