University Opera Ensemble

The University Opera Ensemble is an audition-only ensemble. The first quarter is devoted to preparing the singing actor (and, in some cases, actor, dancer, and instrumentalist) for an intensive rehearsal period leading up to the opera production. After performing the complete opera, the students will take scenes on tour in the community and beyond.

Recent productions have included Britten's Turn of the Screw (2001), Handel's Semele (2002), Mozart's The Magic Flute (2003), Sondheim's A Little Night Music (2004), Purcell's Dido and Aeneas (2004), and a double-bill of Rossini’s La Cambiale di Matrimonio with Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi (2005), The Marriage of Figaro (2006), Three One-Act Operas, Riders to the Sea, A Hand of Bridge, Trouble in Tahiti (2007), The Faces of Love, Broken Pieces, The Telephone, The Ruined Maid, The Face on the Barroom Floor (2008).
