Deadline
Among the scholarships available to students of music at the University
of Oregon are the Ruth Lorraine Close Awards, which annually provide
scholarships to many outstanding graduate and undergraduate students
for advanced study. Information on music scholarships is available
from the Undergraduate and Graduate Offices of the School of Music and Dance.
Information on the other financial aid programs is available from
the University Office of Student Financial Aid.
If you wish to be considered for a School of Music and Dance scholarship,
indicate this on your School of Music and Dance application. You must include
with your application:
- A resume of your musical experience
- A repertoire list (works you have performed)
- Three letters of reference (two of these must be from music
teachers)
You should also complete a Financial Aid Form (FAFSA),
obtainable from any college or university financial aid office,
and have the results sent to the University of Oregon.
ELIGIBILITY
Admitted undergraduate and graduate music majors and dance majors
are eligible for scholarships, which may be granted for more than
one year. To determine scholarship recipients, School of Music and Dance
faculty rely on the applicant's academic record, and in music performance,
on an audition on the applicant's musical instrument. The audition
is to be in person if possible, but by CD, cassette tape or video
recording when necessary.
