Spring Graduation Ceremony
3 p.m., Saturday, June 14, Beall Concert
Hall
You may walk in the ceremony
if you have (1) applied for your degree, and (2) submitted an online RSVP
attendance form (coming soon). Spring graduates who have not completed these
two steps may not walk in the ceremony and will not receive a diploma cover.
The ceremony lasts approximately 1 1/2 hours.
Summer Commencement
Contact the Undergraduate or Graduate office if you will be graduating
in the summer. You may walk in spring or summer ceremonies.
Parking
Direct your guests to the lots closest to Beall Concert Hall. Those lots are on the south side of the School of Music building at 18th and Harris, west side at 17th and Alder, or the north side temporary parking lot with access from 16th and Alder. Parking meters at the edges of the campus are labeled with stickers that offer free parking for the day. Some marked handicap parking is available.
Tickets
Tickets are not required for the ceremony. All seating is on a first-come,
first-served basis. Doors to Beall Concert Hall are scheduled to open at 2:30
p.m.
Assembly
Check in and line-up will begin in the music building room 173 no later than 2:30 p.m. Line-up in alphabetical order within these groups: Dance UG, Dance Master's, Music UG, Music Master's, Music Doctoral.
Performers will file in with graduating students in their correct alphabetical order. Check with Janet Stewart before lining up. Additional instructions may be provided at the check-in desk.
Faculty line-up will begin in the music building room 173.
Photographs
The first several rows of the concert hall on the audience
right side will be reserved for photographs. Quick-shots
may be taken from this area on a rotational basis while a
graduating student is receiving congratulations
from the Dean of the School of Music and Dance. Photographers
should move in and out quickly so that all may have the opportunity
to photograph their graduating students.
Reception
A reception will be held immediately following the ceremony on the front lawn
of Beall Concert Hall (west side).
Tassels & Hoods
- Tassels are to be worn on the left side.
- Master's: pink master's hood
- DMA: pink doctoral hood
- PhD: blue doctoral hood

Diplomas
Although degrees are conferred at Commencement in McArthur Court, diplomas
are not given out at the time of the ceremonies. Official diplomas are mailed
approximately six weeks
after graduation to the address listed on the Application for Degree for degree
form. All materials necessary for the degree must be on file in the Office of
the Registrar on or before June 20 to receive a spring degree.
Awards for Excellence
During the final Student Forum held at
1 p.m, June 5, the Dean will present awards for excellence
to music graduating students selected by the faculty. Dance
Awards are presented at Spring Loft on Friday, June 6. Family
and friends are welcome. University Awards are presented at
a luncheon in May by invitation. Graduates will also be honored
in a photo display in the music student lounge and on the School
of Music and Dance website. If you have been notified that you
are receiving an award but are unable to attend the presentation
ceremony, please let us know where we can send the framed certificate
of honor (littlejo@uoregon.edu).
Disability Services
Wheelchair accessible seating and assisted listening devices
are available in Beall Concert Hall. If you have special seating
needs, call 346-5679 at least 24 hours prior to the ceremony to
make arrangements.
Wheelchair seating is available in the Hall and accessed from the west side of the music building leading into Beall Concert Hall. There will also be an area of seating for guests with mobility impairments and stamina limitations. Sign language interpretation will be provided upon request. If you or your guests would like to request sign language interpretation, please contact Janet Stewart at 346-5679 no later than June 1st.
Special Notes
Alcoholic beverages are not permitted at the ceremony. No
food or drink in Beall Concert Hall.
